ILI in the South/ROOTS

My ILI Journey
ILI Year 4 Fellow Monna Morton reflects on her ILI Journey. I have been trying to find the time to gather my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to write about my fellowship opportunity. The journey began in the spring of 2022 and lasted through January 2023. It has been one I’ll never forget.

Returning and Reconnecting
After nearly 6 months of virtual intercultural exploration, the ILI Year 4 Fellows and FamILI finally got to come together for the first of two in-person weekend intensives. Hosted by ILI partner Alternate ROOTS, this in-person learning and community experience was held at Franklinton Center at Bricks in Whitakers, North Carolina (Lumbee, Skaruhreh/Tuscarora, and Saponi Territories).

ILI ROOTS Intensive
Alternate ROOTS served us the last workshop. I have endless gratitude for all the learning we had passed to us as members of the Year
