Alexander (also known as El Tres Da Nova, and to his students as simply ‘Mr. Alex’) is a musician, writer and educator. Originally from New Jersey, Alexander founded his band Death Is A Business while in New York City. The band has performed throughout the US and recorded with musicians in Mexico City, Peru and Brazil. Currently based in Wisconsin, Alexander is an educator in Milwaukee Public Schools where he provides general music and guitar classes to K-12 public schools, working also with bilingual and immigrant children. Alexander is an investigative journalist reporting on the movement to end the global War on Drugs. He writes for Filtermag.org about breaking news on drug decriminalization, drug safety, policing, incarceration, the homelessness crisis, and other issues. When he’s not teaching and writing, Alexander and his band host immersive experiences where audience members are invited to participate in performance and storytelling. In his free time, Alexander enjoys caring for his two cats, tending his indoor garden, and cooking fresh meals.
