Celina Tupou-Fulivai is a Latina and Polynesian creative, activist, and social entrepreneur, recognized for her work in amplifying Pacific Islander representation through creative arts and advocacy. She is the Founder and Designer of Heliaki, a socially conscious apparel brand that seeks to inspire cultural introspection and drive social transformation.
Central to Tupou-Fulivai’s work is the application of Heliaki, a traditional Tongan artistic expression characterized by metaphor, subtle allusions, and layered meanings, akin to the Hawaiian tradition of Kaona. Through this approach, she has led creative initiatives addressing pressing issues such as climate change, disaster relief efforts for Tonga, and the West Papua conflict, utilizing fashion as a platform for storytelling and advocacy.
With over 15 years of experience in community organizing and policy advocacy, Tupou-Fulivai is guided by a deep belief in the power of representation. She continues to leverage Heliaki to shape narratives, advocate for Pasifika communities, and create platforms that amplify underrepresented voices in leadership and public discourse.
Her lineage traces back to a chief Polynesian Wayfinder, Fulivai, from the ‘Fokololo ‘oe Hau’ Navigators clan. This connection inspires her mission to navigate the complexities of modern societal structures while advocating for her community.
