Maiana Minahal was born in the Philippines, grew up in Southern California, lived in the Northern California Bay Area, and currently makes home in Honolulu (in the occupied kingdom of Hawai‘i), where she is a community college teacher of writing and Filipina/x women’s literature. She is a queer femme immigrant whose intersectional experiences have catalyzed her commitment to personal healing for collective liberation; and she is inspired by her nieces, nephew, and students to continue decolonization work towards healing intergenerational trauma. Maiana is a poet, multimedia performer, and author of the chapbook “Legend Sondayo”.
