Tahira Chloe Mahdi is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and author whose stories and characters reflect the fun and contradictions of Black suburban life. Her background includes radio, television, and digital media, but she is currently at work on her directorial debut, a film she co-wrote titled “Caught Out There.” She is a community psychologist whose work explores community membership. Her novels This Is Not How It Was Supposed to Go (2023) and God Laughs Too: Incidents in the Life of a Black Chick (2003) use keep-it-real humor to explore social issues. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two sons.
