Recently declassified documents of the United States military were released to the Associated Press in September of 1999, which detailed one of the deadliest US military mass killings of innocent civilians under the railroad overpass bridge of the central South Korean village of Nogeun-Ri. The 1st Cavalry brigade sent an undertrained, fatigued 7th Cavalry to occupy the area and clear it of North Korean actors and mistakenly killed 400 women and children hiding in the overpass, anticipating combat above. It is one of the greatest disasters of the US Military of the Twentieth Century, including the Mai Lai Massacre.
