Summary

This law prohibited the immigration of Chinese women and further East Asian women into the United States for the purpose of “unfree labor or immoral purposes.”  This act greatly impacted and controlled the Asian populace in the United States and contributed to prejudices of Asian Women, fetishization, and sexual imperialism. The impacts of this law resulted in many intercultural families in the Carribean, South, and West Coast, that resulted in Indigenous and Asian, Indigenous Hawaiian and Asian, African American and Asian families, and the necessity of “picture brides” into the US to support plantation labor and agriculture.
